Bafana Bafana forward Lyles Foster believes confidence is increasing at his club and they can avoid relegation from the Premier League.
Foster scored a stoppage time winner as the Clarets won their first away game of the season on Sunday, his goal giving Scott Parker’s men a 3-2 victory over Wolves.
That was just their third win of the season and it came after some nervy moments as Burnley had gone ahead 2-0 through Zian Flemming’s brace before Jorgen Strand Larsen and Marshall Munetsi drew Wolves level.
The South African striker says the win has been long coming but they lacked a bit of luck and he is delighted to be on the score sheet after netting his second league goal of the season.
Bafana forward wants to see mentality shift
“We have had a bit of luck not on our side losing games in the last minutes and it is nice to finally win one in the last minute,” Foster, who was introduced in the second half, told the club’s media.
“In this squad, it is all about mentality and the gaffer emphasised that a lot before the game. Let us be big on mentality, focus and exert the full force of our physical capacity and I think we did that.”
Foster has issued a rallying call to his Burnley team-mates to maintain the momentum as that is the only way they will climb up the table.
What is Lyles’ message to Burnley team-mates?
“It is nice to win away, doing at home is great and we have kind of made it a fortress but winning away helps us a lot,” he added. “It is giving us confidence and makes the journey back home a lot quicker and hopefully we will get more of these this season.”

Foster was returning to the squad after sitting out Bafana Bafana’s World Cup qualifier against Rwanda as well as Burnley’s 2-0 home win over Leeds United with a muscular problem.
He will hope to return to the starting XI for the Claret’s home match against Premier League leaders Arsenal on Saturday with Parker’s men now in 16th place on the table with 10 points from nine games.
