Magesi FC captain Elvis Chipezeze has urged his teammates to remain focused on their fight against relegation following the departure of head coach Clinton Larsen.
Larsen, who guided Magesi to unprecedented success in recent seasons, including their maiden top-flight season and Carling Knockout title, recently resigned after their Carling Black Label Cup defeat.
While acknowledging Larsen's significant contributions and his impact on the careers of many players, including Chipezeze himself, the Zimbabwean goalkeeper emphasized the need for immediate solutions to address the team's current predicament.
CHIPEZEZE ON CLINTON LARSEN
“It was difficult obviously but as players, we have a job to do, and as much as things aren’t going well this past month since we won the cup, we have tried so hard to make things right but it’s only a phase, it’s football,” Chipezeze said.
“We just need to keep going, try to work as hard as we can so we can get that luck and things will fall into place in no time.”
Chipezeze, who was instrumental in Magesi FC's historic Carling Knockout triumph this season, winning four Man of the Match awards, has called for a swift improvement in the team's performance.
“It needs us to put our heads together, try to find solutions so we can try to find ourselves out the situation we’re in now, it’s going to take hard work, we know it’s going to be tough, but starting in the new year, away from home against TS Galaxy.
“We must put in the work, we can’t say it will be alright without putting in the work, it would be pointless, so it’s hard work until the season ends.”
