Kekana absence a blow for Sundowns
Mamelodi Sundowns defender Keanu Cupido admits the absence of suspended Grant Kekana is a major setback but remains confident the squad has the depth to cope ahead of their CAF Champions League clash against Esperance.
“It’s a big blow. Grant says has the experience for years now and he helped us a lot. We will miss him. And then we have Ndamane, who is very young and a very good player. Keegan is there as well,” he said as quoted by SABC Sport.
“So we feel like they can fill Grant’s shoes, but also leading into that. I think they’ll need my help because they’re not yet experienced at this stage of the tournament. But we’ve been doing well, rotating the centre-backs.”

“Each one got the opportunity, and I think they took it with both hands and now there is another opportunity for one of them to fill the spot,” Keanu concluded.
Ndamane raises his hand up!
Khulumani Ndamane has put his hand up and declared himself ready to fill the big void left by Grant Kekana when Mamelodi Sundowns meet Esperance in their CAF Champions League semi-final on Saturday.
“The absence of Grant is a big blow for the team. You saw he has the experience, but the guys are there and we try to handle everything,” he told the media.
“It’s not like I am saying I am happy that he got a red card so that I would play. When my chance to play comes, it will come and if given opportunity, I am ready to help the team.

“For us, it’s like we have played the first half, and you know in the second leg anything can happen. So, it’s important for us to remain focused to win the game and try to proceed to the next stage of the competition,” he added.
Rallying call to Sundowns fans

“It’s going to be a big match. I want to encourage our supporters to buy tickets and come to the stadium early to avoid disappointment. We need to come in big numbers and fill the stadium.
“Our boys are ready. They showed on Sunday. It’s our chance to finish the match on Saturday and proceed to the final,” – Mabunda told KickOff
