Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso has outlined how his team can ensure they get out of Angola with a positive result.

Sundowns take on Angolan outfit Wiliete SC in the CAF Champions League in the second preliminary round with the winner securing a ticket to the group stages.

Cardoso is wary of the danger the Angolan side poses, added to the fact that they will be playing away, and he has urged his team to avoid conceding and get an away goal.

“We understand the level of Wiliete, and the importance of this qualifying round over two legs,” Cardoso said as quoted by iDiski Times.

“The first match, we must try not to concede and score, it’s important so then we can finish it in the home match in Pretoria.”

“It’s one of the best clubs in the country, we understand very well the team we are playing against, we studied them very well, we face this qualifying round with respect. But at the same time, the respect is mutual, we respect ourselves,” he added.

“So we will try to put, and we will put the best we can on the pitch, we don’t take anything for granted, we understand how professional we have to be. It’s a team with quality players, so we need to be at our best level, and do everything in our reach. Our preparation has been okay and we hope to have a good match.”

Meanwhile, Mamelodi Sundowns’ record of the longest unbeaten away run has now tumbled after Orlando Pirates’ 1-0 win over African Stars in the CAF Champions League on Saturday.

Sundowns and Pirates had been tied on 20 matches unbeaten on the road but now, the Buccaneers have gone 21 straight matches without losing away, having won 15 and drawn five in all competitions, during that spell.

That sets a new outright record for the longest unbeaten away run by a PSL top-flight team across all competitions.
