Latest news about Mamelodi Sundowns including Keanu Cupido revealing the sacrifices made to play against AS FAR and Miguel Cardoso’s disappointment after many missed chances.

Cupido on sacrifices made to play CAF CL final

Mamelodi Sundowns defender Keanu Cupido has revealed how he had to take injections to be able to play against AS FAR in the CAF Champions League final first leg.

Cupido was a surprise inclusion in the team given he suffered what was reported to be a suspected collarbone fracture against Kaizer Chiefs over a week ago and went on to give a great performance on Sunday.

“The doctor has been helping me in these last few days. I had to take injections but anything for the badge,” he told the media.

“If a team needs me, I really have to be there whenever they need me through or whatever but I am happy to be on the field again.”

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso has decried his team’s wastefulness in their slim 1-0 win over AS FAR in the CAF Champions League final first leg.

Aubrey Modiba’s 36th minute freekick won the game for the Brazilians but Brayan Leon missed two sitters with Kutlwano Lethlaku also missing from close range and Cardoso feels it was a missed opportunity to wrap up the tie.

“Five I think it’s a bit too much and eventually not fair, but yeah, we should’ve scored one more goal and create a little bit better advantage and have one foot in the front. Anyway, we showed we can compete with this team as we compete with any other team,” Cardoso told SuperSport TV as perSoccer Laduma.

Mamelodi Sundowns warned

AS FAR Rabat coach Alexandre Santos believes his team can overturn the one-goal deficit and win the CAF Champions League trophy after losing 1-0 in Pretoria on Sunday.

The Moroccan side will host the second leg in Rabat on May 24 and Santos has warned Sundowns against expecting an easy game.

“For sure, we will do more because we could do. It was not easy. It was not easy because Sundowns is a very big team. A very strong team,” he told the media.

“Everybody knows, and everybody of our team knows we have a very good chance to face Sundowns next week and to do what we want. It’s score and reverse the result and get the title.”
