Mamelodi Sundowns will not have midfielder Jayden Adams and striker Brayan Leon in their opening matches of next season as both are suspended.

Adams received a red card in their penultimate match against Kaizer Chiefs and missed their final game at TS Galaxy while Leon received his fourth yellow card against the Rockets.

With their domestic season over, the two will be absent when Sundowns open their 2026-27 season either in the PSL or MTN8.

Mamelodi Sundowns defender Keanu Cupido has issued a rallying call to his teammates ahead of their CAF Champions League final return leg in Rabat on Sunday.

Sundowns secured a 1-0 win over AS FAR in the first leg on Sunday, thanks to Aubrey Modiba’s 36th minute freekick, but Cupido is wary of the Moroccan side in the return match in what will be an intimidating atmosphere.

“We know they are a very good team; when their supporters are behind them, when it’s a sold-out affair on that side, we know it’s going to be tough for us—but if we stand together as a unit,” he said as per The Star.

“We know when we play away, it’s a different game. It’s their own game, so we’re not going to expect what they did here; they’re going to do it that side as well.

“It’s going to be more difficult for us, but as a team, we know if we’re together, it’s going to be easy.”

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso maintains that his team will not employ a defensive approach when they play away to AS FAR in the CAF Champions League final second leg.

AS FAR will host Sundowns in Rabat on Sunday with the Brazilians holding a 1-0 lead and Cardoso maintains his team will not be going to Morocco to ‘park the bus.’

“The teams must play loyal to the way they are. There’s no sudden transforming of the identity of a team,” Cardoso maintained as per ESPN.

“Our identity goes beyond the will of a coach. It goes in the direction of the roots of the South African people and where this club was born, where it comes and where it continues to want to go.”
