Here is what is making headlines around Mamelodi Sundowns in the last 24 hours, including why Masandawana are tipped to be among finest generations, Khulumani Ndamane skinned after blunder & more.

Aubaas on how Sundowns can be among the finest generations

Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Bathusi Aubaas has outlined what the current squad needs to do to be counted among the finest generations in the club’s history to lift the CAF Champions League title.

“I think, obviously, I will be happy [to win the Champions League]. For us to get there, we have to be humble, and then we have to work hard, and of course, we have to respect the opponent outside and on the pitch,” Aubaas told journalists.

“Obviously, we have to bring monster mentality and dog mentality.”

Madandawana’s squad depth will also be put to the test in the upcoming weeks. They have a tight fixture schedule of six PSL matches to be played within 18 days before plunging into the Champions League final.

“I think each and every one in the team is always read,” added Aubaas.

‘When called to be in the squad, when the coach gives an opportunity, obviously we have to grab it with both hands because we know we have a lot of quality players.”

Ndamane needs to understand how to behave

Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso was disappointed with his side conceding a late penalty against Stellenbosch FC after Khulumani Ndamane’s tackle in the box.

“No, no don’t confuse the things, the team tried and had more than chances to finish this game. There’s a situation that happened that gave away a penalty, that is completely reckless nothing more,” Cardoso stated.

“Of course, it’s a very young player that needs to understand how to behave. Before the goal, he made a fantastic match even on another level but of course you cannot approach a situation like that when the game is about to finish four minutes to the end.

“Completely under control, there was not even one dangerous situation from Stellenbosch and we gave that goal that’s what it is,” he concluded.

How Rayners can help Bafana Bafana at World Cup

Golden Arrows head coach Manqoba Mngqithi has outlined the kind of matches in which Bafana Bafana could benefit from the inclusion of Mamelodi Sundowns striker Iqraam Rayners.

“In my opinion, a striker like Iqraam Rayners is still amongst the best for the type of a national team and the personality that I think we need to have,” Mngqithi said in the Up Back Through Podcast.

“We need to consider the ability to play on the space behind. And I think that was shown even in AFCON when we played with Moremi to demand the space behind, we can be stronger against bigger nations.

“When we play with Iqraam, we can be stronger also against the bigger nations.

“When we play Lyle Foster, we must not work opposite his strengths because his strength, he’s a box striker.

“Against nations that we think we can dominate and put them on the sort, then we can have a Lyle Foster as our nine just to make sure that in the box we have presence.”
