Zwane gives thumbs up to teammates
Mamelodi Sundowns captain Themba Zwane has opened up about the grueling nature of the CAF Champions League.
The Brazilians are gearing up to face Morocco’s AS FAR Rabat in the second leg of the final this Sunday at the Stade Prince Moulay Abdallah, kicking off at 21:00.
Sundowns hold a slender 1-0 aggregate advantage following their first-leg victory at Loftus Versfeld Stadium last weekend.
“Going into this final, we know what to expect, the only aim is to lift the trophy at the end of the tournament,” Zwane told Sundowns media department.
“What I learnt about my teammates is that we’re strong, the brotherhood is strong. We support one another. For the schedule that we have been facing, travelling up and down and coming back home – immediately after a day or two, we’re playing.
“It shows the mental strength that we have as a team. So, I give credit to the guys. We want to make the whole South Africa proud by winning this Champions League.”
AS FAR ready to end 41-year-old CAF CL drought
AS FAR Rabat star Abdelfettah Hadraf said that the side’s 41-year CAF Champions League trophy drought has only strengthened their resolve and determination to win as they prepare to take on Mamelodi Sundowns.
“Forty-one years of waiting have only strengthened our resolve and determination to win this precious continental title and bring it back to the club’s trophy cabinet. Finals aren’t played, they’re won,” he said, per Le Matin.
