Mamelodi Sundowns star Aubrey Modiba insists friendship will be set aside when he faces his home-town side Polokwane City FC in the MTN8 quarter-finals this weekend, warning that Masandawana cannot afford any complacency.

Star to leave Sundowns?

Winger Kobamelo Kodisang is training away from the first team at Mamelodi Sundowns while a loan move is being worked on for him for the 2026/27 season, according to Soccer Laduma.

Kodisang spent last season away from Sundowns, spending time at two different clubs on short loan periods. He started the season in Portugal on loan to AVS for the first half of the season, but returned home in the second half of the campaign to play for Stellenbosch FC until the of the term. 

Stellies did not show an interest in keeping Kodisang, especially as he struggled to break into the starting line-up on a regular basis under head coach Gavin Hunt. Now Soccer Laduma has been informed that the player’s representatives are working on getting him a loan move away from Chloorkop.

Kodisang, who had spells with Bidvest Wits and Platinum Stars, is not in the plans of Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso for the season and plans are already in place for him to make a move before the close of the transfer window.

I had options but…

New Young Africans SC star Peter Shalulile has revealed that he had several options on the table before deciding to join the Tanzanian giants.

Shalulile recently joined Yanga on a reported two-year deal after being released by Mamelodi Sundowns at the end of last season.

The Namibia international also reportedly received a handsome signing-on fee, having been regarded as a marquee signing for the Tanzanian Premier League.

“It was not an easy choice because I had many options, but I eventually decided on a great club — a club of the people,” Shalulile said, according to The Guardian Tanzania.

“When a team like Yanga shows interest, it reflects their ambition and the direction they want to go. I first spoke with the club president a couple of seasons ago while I was still at Sundowns.

“He told me then that he wanted to see me play for this club one day, and now we are finally here.

“When the club formally approached me, I needed time to reflect before making my decision. After careful consideration, I was convinced this was the right move for me.”
