Former Mamelodi Sundowns star Cassius Mailula has backed his ex-club to surprise Orlando Pirates and win the DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) title.
Sundowns and Pirates will clash in the final match of the season on Saturday with the Buccaneers holding a three-point advantage as well as a +3-goal difference and needing a draw to be crowned.
However, Sundowns must win by two clear goals to dislodge Pirates and Mailula, who played in the competition with the Brazilians, feels they can do it if they start strongly.
“If they score first, that belief feeds into their game, fortifying their conviction that victory is possible,” Mailula told SuperSport. “They should be proud; Sundowns is everything.”

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso feels defender Keanu Cupido is the ‘best centre back in the PSL’ this season after a stellar campaign for the Brazilians and should be a regular feature in the national team.
Cupido’s season ended on Wednesday when he fractured his collarbone while playing against Kaizer Chiefs and although he has not been in the plans of Bafana Bafana boss Hugo Broos, Cardoso feels he deserves a place in the side.
“I think Keanu is doing very well, maybe he was not on the thoughts of the coach [Hugo Broos], but one day he will be an international for Bafana Bafana – I have no doubts, in the moment, he’s probably the best centre-back in the league,” Cardoso said as per iDiski Times.

Teboho Mokoena’s agent Glyn Binkin has revealed that the midfielder received offers from clubs abroad in January but Sundowns rejected them as they did not want to lose one of their key players in the middle of a busy season.
Mokoena was the subject of interest from Egyptian giants Al Ahly as well as European clubs but Binkin says Sundowns turned them down. He, however, hopes that the highly-rated star can be allowed to leave at the end of the season.
“I’m hopeful that after a potentially very successful season that common sense will prevail and they will allow him to pursue of his dreams of playing abroad,” Binkin told Soccer Laduma.
