Mamelodi Sundowns News Today: Star midfielder to miss WC? Why Adams is vital for Downs & more

Published on by

Here is the latest news about Mamelodi Sundowns, including Jayden Adams’ crucial aspects on the pitch and Bathusi Aubaas risk of missing the World Cup.

Why is Adams special?

Former Mamelodi Sundowns captain Hlompho Kekana has explained what makes Jayden Adams a special midfielder with what he sees as unique qualities.

“As a midfielder in a big team, you have to be reliable, not only when we have the ball, but even when we don’t have the ball. You have to be a player who will always be there when we want to escape,” Kekana told Mameodi Sundowns Pitchside Podcast

“One thing that sets him apart from the rest of the midfielders in the Premier Soccer League is that he knows how to use the ball. He passes well, he passes with the right pace, right technique.

“You must watch him. Clean passes all the time, safe passes all the time. When you don’t know your football very well, you will think he is just passing sideways, backwards or forward.”

Sundowns, Pirates race good for ‘best league – PSL’

Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has welcomed the race between Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates insisting it makes the elague attractive and interesting.

“Look, it’s difficult you know. We have two teams now fighting. I think it’s very good for the South African league – for me, I always say that it’s the best in Africa,” he told the media.

“So, the fans deserve to have this race until the end, to have interest because if there is no interest in football, people lose it and they are not interest anymore.

“So, yeah it’s good we’re giving tough time for the team. Let’s see what happens at the end of the season. Until the last second we will be here,” Ouddou concluded.

Aubaas risking World Cup slot?

With the FIFA World Cup nearing, Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Bathusi Aubaas has a tough challenge of fighting his way back into the team at club level to give himself a shot at participating at the world showpiece.

Aubaas has not been in the Sundowns matchday squad in the Betway Premiership since November last year, and has only played once this year in a Nedbank Cup Last 32 clash against Motsepe Foundation Championship side Gomora United.
