Have Mamelodi Sundowns made a grave Shalulile mistake? ‘He is ONLY 32!’

Mamelodi Sundowns have been slammed for letting Peter Shalulile leave after the expiry of his contract with the Brazilians.

The Namibia international, who scored 107 goals and provided 27 assists in the 228 games played for Masandawana, left the club after six years with them. He is the current Premier Soccer League’s top scorer with 134 goals, having scored the other goals while turning out for Highlands Park.

While at Sundowns, Shalulile won five Premier Soccer League titles, with the 2025/26 campaign being the only exception after Orlando Pirates’ excellent run. He further won the Nedbank Cup, MTN8 and most recently the CAF Champions League.

Former Masandawana forward Lungisani Ndlela believes the Namibian has a lot to offer and it wasn’t a wise move for the 15-time PSL champions to let him leave.

Shalulile was the main man everywhere!

“Yeah, for me, Shalulile was the main man for a long time – even in the dressing room as he led the singing, so it’s sad to see him leave. He scored crucial goals and he was fighting for the team,” Ndlela told Soccer Laduma.

“Sometimes the team was not doing well. But he was there to make sure that the team is winning. Also for the team, so much contribution to the team.

“But things had changed a bit. He was on the bench, not coming in. It’s very sad he’s leaving, but you have to consider that he was no longer playing. He can still score more goals that guy. He can still do much more, so it’s not a bad thing that he’s leaving, considering he still has a lot to offer.

“I know top teams will be watching him. He’s only 32, and he can be a top scorer somewhere else. The guy is so brilliant. He can still give more,” he concluded.
