Mamelodi Sundowns star begs Orbit College to hand Masandawana PSL title by stopping Pirates: ‘They get the same result’

Mamelodi Sundowns are still in the race after Orlando Pirates failed to secure maximum points last weekend in the Premier Soccer League game against Durban City staged at the Orlando Amstel Arena.

The Buccaneers needed a win of any kind to win the South African top-tier title for the first time in 14 years. However, the 0-0 draw now means they still trail the defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns by two points, with the latter having already completed their games.

Bucs play Orbit College in their final game of the season on Saturday, aware that they can’t afford to slip again. However, Masandawana and South Africa versatile defender Aubrey Modiba insists nothing is impossible.

Modiba urges Orbit College to stop Pirates

“We were watching that game. We still believe that anything can happen,” Modiba said as quoted by Sportswire.

“But we also know the quality of Orlando Pirates and how badly they want to win the league.

“Hopefully, in the last game, they get the same result. So we are going to hope and pray, but we always believe.”

Sundowns hungry for CAF CL success

On Sunday, Masandawana beat AS FAR Rabat by a solitary goal in the first leg of the CAF Champions League final played in Pretoria. Aubrey Modiba scored the lone goal, and Modiba remains optimistic about completing the job next weekend.

“We also want to make history for this beautiful club.

“The class of 2016 wanted it badly, just like we do now. We can’t celebrate yet because we still have another difficult game in Morocco. We know their fans will be fully behind them.

“You saw how they filled the stadium, so they will come into that match with a different kind of energy. Hopefully, our dreams can come true after everything we have worked for since joining the team,” Modiba concluded.
