Manqoba Mngqithi confirms Mamelodi Sundowns new signing

Manqoba Mngqithi has confirmed new signing for Mamelodi Sundowns who are continuing to strengthen their team for the 2024/25 season.

Mngqithi managed the first official match for Masandawana after Rulani Mokwena left the side to take the helm at Wydad Casablanca just last month.

Mngqithi expressed confidence that Rayners will significantly contribute to Bafana Ba Style this season and believes his presence will provide a substantial boost in their pursuit of the CAF Champions League title this campaign.

“As for Iqraam, we are happy to have him because he will add something to the club,” said Mngqithi.

“I’m looking at him more for the Champions League than in the PSL. 

“In as much as will help us in the PSL, I think in the Champions League, he will really give us something more.”

Rayners is set to move to Chloorkop at the beginning of this week to join his new side after playing just one game for Stellenbosch this season.

With Sundowns set to meet Stellenbosch in the MTN8 semifinal, Rayners might play his first game for the Brazilians against his former side.

“And on the issue of Iqraam by the way it will be nice to have him,” he added.

Rayners delivered outstanding performances for Stellenbosch last season, netting 17 goals and providing four assists in a total of 39 matches across all competitions.

He joins Arthur de Oliveira Sales, Kobamelo Kodisang, Kegan Johannes and Asekho Tiwani who also arrived at Chloorkop this transfer window.
