Kaizer Chiefs host Egyptian heavyweights Zamalek on Saturday in CAF Confederation Cup’s Matchday 2 to be staged at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.
The White Knights come into the match as favourites owing to the quality within their side, as opposed to teh Glamour Boys who are rebuilding.
Zamalek started their Group D campaign with a 1-0 home-win against Zambian heavyweights Zesco United. However, Amakhosi were not that lucky as they conceded late to fall 2-1 away to Al Masry.

Ahead of the fixture, Khanyisa Mayo – who is returning from injury alongside Wandile Duba- insists the Soweto giants have every ingredient needed to secure maximum points at home.
“Not to say we are underdogs; we have competed in CAF, so I think there is experience that comes with it for the players to gain each and every game or each and every time we qualify for the competition,” he told the media.
I wouldn’t say we are underdogs, we have much biggest history on the continent. So, I think on the level that they are on and the level that we are on I wouldn’t say it’s much more different,” Mayo concluded.

“It’s very important for us to get three points against Zamalek, especially because we are [playing] at home. It’s also crucial to pick up points earlier in the competition so that later you don’t have to make calculations and all of that in order to qualify for the next round,” Amakhosi captain Brandon Petersen stated.
“We are excited for the game … we know it’s going to be a big one. We are looking to redeem ourselves. We have home-ground advantage this time round.
“All the guys know how important it is for us to collect maximum points at the weekend. We learnt our lessons in our last game in Egypt, and the boys are ready,” he concluded.
