Mamelodi Sundowns coach, Manqoba Mngqithi, lauded the performance of his side after their impressive 3-0 victory over Sekhukhune United.
The Brazilians bounced back from their recent dip in form, securing a comfortable win thanks to goals from Arthur Sales (penalty), Iqraam Rayners, and an own goal by Sekhukhune's Tresor Tshibwabwa.
Mngqithi was particularly impressed with Lucas Riveiro's influence on the team, highlighting his ability to instill confidence in his players.
Ribeiro, who’s a Sundowns penalty taker, allowed Sales to take the penalty in order to open his account in Brazilians colours.
‘I KNOW HIS PERSONALITY’
“I know his personality, he would have done it for anybody else. He did the same for Peter, he has done a lot of positive things for his teammates to make sure that everybody is part of the group and I'm very happy that Sales has got his goal,” said Mnggithi.
Mngqithi was not entirely satisfied with the team’s performance, saying they did a number of poor things that could have worked against them on the day.
“I think there were moments where we were a little bit sloppy. We made a lot of tactical errors on the ball, losing the ball cheaply sometimes, especially in the final third,” Mngqithi added.
“And not moving the ball as fast as we could to try and arrive to the full-back sometimes but overall I think the control was good, everything turned out the way we anticipated.
“We controlled Kapinga and Keletso very well, because they were going to be a problem in transition. I think the boys deserve all the credit.”
