Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Manqoba Mngqithi has spoken on his future after a shock defeat to Magesi FC in the Carling Knockout Cup final.
The Brazilians scored first via Iqraam Rayners in the first half before Tshepo Kakora and Delano Abrahams netted two goals for Limpopo outfit in the second stanza.
This was Mngqithi’s first cup final as a sole head coach having taken the reins from Rulani Mokwena before the beginning of the current campaign.
Mngqithi was asked about the pressure that is mounting on him, particularly after failing to secure the trophy for the Tshwane giants.
He stated that his job is always under scrutiny every week, acknowledging that he has to deliver consistently.
MNGQITHI SAYS HIS JOB IS ALWAYS UNDER SCRUTINY
“In football, you can expect anything. If you choose to be a coach you must expect that in this space, our jobs are always under scrutiny every week,” he said.
“Every week, we have to deliver. It’s not like the CEO of a company who has to come at the end of a financial year. With us football coaches, it always has to be where are we going?
“Are we going towards the right direction or the wrong direction? But I am still very optimistic that we are going in the right direction.”
