Mokwena gutted after debut loss in Morocco

The former Sundowns tactician has promised to add an attacking player to his squad before the transfer window closes.

Wydad Athletic Club coach Rulani Mokwena is gutted after suffering a defeat in his first Botola Pro League game played on Friday night.

Despite a massive 70% possession, the Red Castle fell to a late strike from Hamza El Janati through a penalty which ended a 15-game winless run against MAS de Fes.

The result was not what Mokwena had anticipated, especially after having a good pre-season with the North African outfit.

‘It was a difficult game but I don't' like losing' – Mokwena

I’m sad, I don’t like losing. I’m a very bad loser; A good opponent in a difficult stadium, so congratulations to the opponents, that’s the most important thing we can say, congratulations to the opponents.” the 37-year-old told HeSport.

“It was a difficult game, I expected it to be difficult. Lots of long balls, and it stretched the team.

“In the second half, we played a lot better but we were good. I’m happy in the performance, just disappointed in the result.”

The South African tactician concedes it was painful and hurting to the supporters who had anticipated a good result.

“The fans' pain is our pain, we know what the club is going through,” the youthful former Mamelodi Sundowns coach continued.

“It’s been a difficult two seasons and we are swimming against the tide. But we knew that before we came here. It’s a process and that’s why we signed a three-year contract, isn’t it?

“It’s a project and we want to be here, fulfill it, and leave this club better than we found it, and we will do it.

“We are in the market for a striker, for sure.”

South Africa international attacker Percy Tau has been heavily linked with a move to Wydad AC in the ongoing campaign.
