Mosimane concerned with ‘unfit’ former Chelsea star

Esteghlal FC coach Pitso Mosimane was far from impressed as former Chelsea attacker Gael Kakuta struggled to make an impression in his team's 1-1 draw with Aluminium Arak.

In that particular Persian Gulf Pro League game staged at the Imam Khomeini Stadium on Friday, The Capital Blues scored first courtesy of Jalollidin Masharipov in the stroke of half-time.

However, the hosts fought back and ensured the spoils were shared when Mohammad Amin Kazemian struck in the 63rd minute.

Mosimane unsatisfied with Kakuta

Congolese Gael Kakuta played the entire match, but he struggled to influence the results in favour of his team. The former Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly coach then went on to explain what might have affected the former Chelsea player.

“He was injured and because he has returned from a long-term injury, he is not yet fully fit. Of course, you are right and I am still not satisfied with him,” the 60-year-old Mosimane told the media.

“What was your opinion of Kakuta in the previous game? Today you say that the first 30 minutes were good,” he concluded.

Kakuta has already played 16 games for his club across all competitions; he has an assist but has not yet managed to open his account.

The draw on Friday was Mosimane's second in a row, after an initial 0-0 result in the previous outing against Gol Gohar. Esteghlal are now unbeaten in the last seven games across all competitions. They are currently placed ninth on the table with 16 points after playing 13 games.
