Mamelodi Sundowns have the most valuable squad in the PSL showing why they are still the dominant force in South African football.
As per the latest update by Transfermarkt, Sundowns have seven players among the 10 most valuable players in the PSL with the rest going to Orlando Pirates stars.
Sundowns’ Brazilian ace Marcelo Allende and midfield linchpin Teboho Mokoena remain the most valuable PSL players at €2.3 million (R45 million) each even though their market value has dropped by €100,000 (R2 million).
Sundowns’ on-form striker Iqraam Rayners has moved up to third on the list with a market value of €2 million (R39 million), having increased in value by €200,000 (R3.9 million), same as Brazilian team-mate Lucas Ribeiro.
Mabasa rises as Shalulile drops
Fifth on the list is Sundowns’ Tashreeq Matthews, whose value has dropped by €100,000 (R2 million) to €1.7 million (R33 million).
Pirates’ striker Tshegofatso Mabasa breaks Sundowns’ dominance in sixth place with a market value of €1.6 million (R31 million), having seen his value rise by €300,000 (R5.9 million).
Sundowns’ Aubrey Modiba and Peter Shalulile are also valued at €1.6 million (R31 million) but the latter has seen his value dropped by a massive €400,000 (R7.8 million) owing to his recent slump in form and reduced game time.
Pirates’ duo Deano van Rooyen and Patrick Maswanganyi complete the top 10 with a value of €1.4 million (R27.4 million) each, with the former Stellenbosch right-back a new entrant on the list, having seen his stock rise by €200,000 (R3.9 million).
What’s the value of Rele & Nkota?
Other players of interest are Pirates’ 20-year-old wingers Relebohile Mofokeng and Mohau Nkota who have seen their stock rise by €400,000 (R7.8 million) each.
‘Rele’ is now valued at €1.2 million (R23.5 million), making him the most valuable young player in the PSL, while Nkota is valued at €400,000 (R7.8 million).
Also valued at €1.2 million (R23.5 million) are Stellenbosch FC duo Jayden Adams and Devin Titus, after an increase of €200,000 (R3.9 million) a piece, while Pirates midfielder Thalente Mbatha has seen his value rise by €350,000 (R6.8 million) to €700,000 (R13.7 million).
Cape Town City’s Prins Tjiueza is the other player who is not from the big two, with a big market value of €450,000 (R8.8 million), while there is no sign of a Kaizer Chiefs player.
