Nabi addresses Kaizer Chiefs’ transfer plans

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi says his team need at least three transfer windows to get in the players that they need to build a competitive squad.

Chiefs have struggled for consistency under Nabi, managing just three league wins in nine games that have left them in ninth position on the PSL table and the team is crying out for some reinforcements.

Nabi has admitted his side is short in all areas and need plenty of experienced and quality players but even with the January transfer window around the corner, the tactician knows it will not be a quick fix.

”The most important ones will be how we do our mid-season, as well as the big transfer window in June,” said Nabi as per SABC.

“The next two windows will be important in terms of bringing players who are experienced and tactically ready for the level required at Kaizer Chiefs, to help speed up the process to get to where we want to be.

”I think you need a minimum of three windows to change a team, that is normal, people who understand football know that's the realistic approach,” added Nabi.

Nabi arrived to some excitement especially when his side started the season with back-to-back wins but the optimism has since been replaced with despair as the team has lurched from crisis to crisis with performances and results not inspiring confidence.

The manner in which Chiefs have been conceding goals or allowing leads to slip away has also been alarming, exposing all the problems that Nabi was brought in to solve, but the tactician is still looking at the glass half-full.

”Honestly, before the game. I think we are in the right direction, after five months with this team, even though we have lost so many points recklessly. But I still think we're headed in a good direction,” said the veteran tactician.

Chiefs have one more game left before the end of the year as they take on Chippa United on December 29 and fans will be hoping for a positive end to a difficult 2024.
