Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has conceded the Glamour Boys are out of the Premier Soccer League title race.
Despite finishing in the 10th position in the 2023/24 edition, the signings made by the club gave their supporters a reason to be optimistic. However, they have managed just 28 points from 20 games, 27 less than leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.
However, the Glamour Boys are in the quarter-final of the annual Nedbank Cup where they have been scheduled to play Stellenbosch on Saturday at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth.
In his latest interview, the Tunisian has stated where his priorities are and updated on the injuries to key players like Wandile Duba and Sibongiseni Mthethwa who have been out nursing injuries.
Chiefs will come back stronger – Nabi
“I have lost to much points, my team, we have lost too many bad points, games where we should have wrapped it up easily,” he told the media.
“This has killed us, I understand some fans are not happy about this but I give my apology to that. I am not happy about it either! I think we still have an opportunity to get into Africa. This is a challenge, top four, I think it’s possible. Okay week in week out you see us go up, other team go down, next week we go down other team go up.
“But we’re not far, I’m sure we will come back strong, I have some players who are coming back from injuries, Wandile Duba, Ox Mthethwa.”
‘Respect Chiefs brand’

Currently, Amakhosi are placed eighth on the Premier Soccer League table with 28 points, three less than Stellenbosch who are third on the table. Nabi is convinced his team can get that position and seal their place in the Caf competitions.
“The team will go up, I think top four with the possibility for Africa – this would be good for us. Nedbank Cup there’s a chance for qualifying for CAF, but you need to be realistic, we beat Stellenbosch but in the cup it won’t be the same.
“They are a very tough team, but I want us to fight, I want my players to respect the Kaizer Chiefs brand.”
