Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi will be hoping that his team returns to winning ways soon as they are close to setting an unwanted record.
Chiefs lost to bitter rivals Orlando Pirates in the Soweto Derby on Saturday, their 2-1 defeat seeing them extend their winless run in the league to seven games, and leaving them in ninth position.
Amakhosi fans had hoped to see their team record an improved performance but after starting well, and scoring a second-minute goal, they allowed Pirates to stage a comeback and win the game.

That was the 12th league defeat for Nabi’s team this season from 26 league games, having won just eight and drawn six, which leaves them on 30 points, same as Chippa United and Marumo Gallants, while Richards Bay and Magesi FC are just one behind in 11th and 12th positions showing just how low Chiefs can drop if they do not start winning quickly.
What unwanted record could Chiefs set?
Worryingly though for Nabi and his team is 12 losses is the joint worst record they have ever recorded in a PSL campaign, after also losing the same number of matches in the last two campaigns, when they finished fifth and 10th respectively.
It means the Glamour Boys are one loss away from setting an unwanted record as a 13th league defeat would be the highest number of defeats ever suffered in a season in their storied history.
Chiefs have just two league games remaining to save themselves from the embarrassment, an away clash to Sekhukhune United on May 17, and their final game of the season against Polokwane City on May 24.
