Orlando Pirates Transfer News: What Peter Shalulile will bring to Bucs

Orlando Pirates have been urged to consider signing legendary Namibia and former Mamelodi Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile.

The 32-year-old played at Masandawana for six years, scoring 107 goals and providing 27 assists in 228 matches for the Brazilians across all competitions. Reports have it that the forward requested to be let go in search of regular game time elsewhere.

Ex-Bucs striker Benedict ‘Tso’ Vilakazi believes Shalulile is the man who will improve Abdeslam Ouaddou’s striking department.

Last season, the Sea Robbers’ forwards – Yanela Mbuthuma and Evidence Makgopa- struggled for consistency in front of the goal despite the many chances created by the midfielders.

Mbuthuma ended the campaign with eight goals and three assists in 32 outings with the Soweto giants, while Makgopa managed to find the back of the net seven times in 31 outings, as well as four assists.

What will Shalulile bring to Bucs?

“Look, Sundowns has just released Shalulile now; why can’t you get him?” Vilakazi said, as quoted by iDiski Times.

“Go and get him. He is one striker that will score. Currently with the stats that we’ve got in South African football I’d rather go for him because I know he’s goal scorer.

“I know that with the midfielders that we’ve got, the speed that we’ve got he’s always inside the box he’ll score. That’s one player that comes to my mind when we talk about strikers,” he concluded.

Apart from the Premier Soccer League and other domestic competitions, Pirates will be dining with the best in the CAF Champions League.
