Nabi thrilled to welcome back key Chiefs defender from injury

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has expressed his delight at having left-back Brandley Cross back from injury.

Cross suffered a leg injury during Chiefs’ 2-0 loss to Polokwane City last month and has missed their last two matches but he has recovered and is now in contention, starting with the Glamour Boys’ PSL clash against Cape Town City on Sunday.

The 23-year-old had started life at Chiefs in great fashion having been involved in all 10 games that Amakhosi played prior to his injury.

His contribution in defence and attack made the team better and his coach is thankful that he has returned just in time for the start of the second half of the season.

Nabi happy with ‘bonus’ Cross return

“We welcome some players such as Bradley Cross who have recovered from injury back in the squad, which is a bonus because he has been one of our most consistent players this season,” Nabi said as per the club’s website.

Cross joined Chiefs from Golden Arrows in the off-season transfer window and has formed part of a largely changed backline that includes fellow new signings Rushwin Dortley, Inacio Miguel as well as goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari.

Chiefs have had to cope with injuries to a number of key players, forcing Nabi to shuffle his pack, but some of them are now coming back which will be a boost in the new year as they seek to move up the table.

Nabi’s men can move into the top five with a win away to Cape Town on Sunday which will be a huge confidence booster after their slow start to the season.
