Nedbank Cup 2024-25: Fixtures, Key Dates, Prize Money & all you need to know

The 18th edition of the Nedbank Cup is set to be thrilling following the draw held in Sandton on January 9, fans are eagerly anticipating the matches.

Orlando Pirates, the defending champions, will face a challenging match against Premiership Richards Bay FC. Meanwhile, Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns have relatively easier fixtures on paper, with Chiefs playing against Free Agents and Sundowns facing Sibanye Golden Star

This prestigious tournament offers a unique opportunity for clubs, especially those outside the league title race, to secure silverware.

Similar to the Emirates FA Cup in England, the Nedbank Cup features a diverse field of 32 teams from across the country. 

The competition brings together 16 teams from the top-flight Betway Premiership, facing off against eight from the second tier and eight from the third tier, creating a thrilling mix of talent and ambition.

PRIZE MONEY

The Nedbank Cup has a prize money pool of about R20 million, making it one of the most valuable cup competitions in South African football. This large sum is allocated to participant teams based on their performance throughout the event.

Winner: A significant R7 million awaits the winner, a substantial financial windfall that can dramatically improve a team's resources. This prize money is especially valuable for lowerdivision teams, allowing them to invest in infrastructure, player development, and ultimately become more competitive.

Runner-up: Secures a significant R2.5 million, providing a substantial financial boost despite falling short of the championship.

Third and Fourth Place: Each team receives a commendable R1 million.

Quarter-finalists (Fifth to Eighth Place): Each team gets R400,000.

Early Round Participants: All teams receive a participation fee of R250,000.

NEDBANK CUP INNOVATIONS

During the round of 32, round of 16 and quarterfinals, every goal scored adds R20 000 to the pot, and every save adds R10 000 to the pot. During the semifinals and final, every goal adds R30 000 to the pot and every save adds R20 000 to the pot.

This means that if 5 goals are scored in total during the round of 32, there’s R100 000 up for grabs, and if 6 saves are made in total during the round of 32, there’s R60 000 up for grabs.

At the end of each round, we will calculate the total based on all the goals and saves, and if you have and use a MiGoals Plus or JustSave Account, you stand a chance to win your share of the total.
