NEW DATES REVEALED: When Will Betway Premiership Resume?

Published on by

The Betway Premiership will return sooner than expected, with the first fixture now set for Monday, January 19, just a day after the Africa Cup of Nations final in Morocco.

Sundowns Fixture Moved Forward

Mamelodi Sundowns have been granted a date change for their clash against newly promoted Orbit College, originally scheduled for Tuesday, January 20. The match will now take place on Monday, January 19 at Loftus Versfeld.

The adjustment gives Sundowns extra preparation time ahead of their CAF Champions League encounter against Al Hilal of Sudan on Friday, January 23 in Pretoria.

Confederation Cup Teams Stick to Original Dates

Teams competing in the CAF Confederation Cup will play their league matches as initially planned on Tuesday, January 20:

  • Kaizer Chiefs vs Lamontville Golden Arrows at Soccer City
  • Stellenbosch FC vs Sekhukhune United in Polokwane, marking Gavin Hunt’s first game in charge.

Chiefs will then travel to Zambia to face Zesco United on Sunday, January 25, while Stellenbosch head to Algeria for a showdown with Chabab Belouizdad.

Further Adjustments

Stellenbosch’s league match against Golden Arrows on Wednesday, January 28 has been postponed due to their late return from Algeria. Meanwhile, Chiefs will have a quick turnaround, visiting Marumo Gallants in Bloemfontein on January 28 after their trip to Zambia.

The postponement has allowed the PSL to reschedule the Richards Bay vs Golden Arrows derby at uMhlathuze Sports Complex from Saturday, January 31 to Friday, January 30 (kick-off 7:30 PM).
