Olisa Ndah: Possible return date for injured Pirates defender

Orlando Pirates expect defender Olisa Ndah to return by the end of January or early February having suffered a long-term injury in September.

Ndah pulled up in the first half of Pirates’ 3-0 win over Polokwane on September 24 and he was later confirmed to have suffered a tibia fracture, ruling him out of action for the rest of the year.

The Nigerian had started the season well, forming a great partnership with Thabisa Sesane in central defence, before the injury which occurred just before the Buccaneers faced Stellenbosch in the MTN8 final.

Pirates have had to cope without him but luckily for the club, Nkosinathi Sibisi had proven to be an able replacement, linking up well with Sesane since as Jose Riveiro’s team continues to challenge on multiple fronts.

When should Pirates fans expect Ndah?

There is hope now for Pirates fans as the defender is reported to be nearing a return to action which will be a major boost for the Soweto giants in the second half of the season.

“It has been several weeks that he was out and there has been progress made along the way,” a Pirates source told Soccer Laduma.

“It would have been worse if there was a leg break or something like that but fortunately, it didn’t get to that. He should be back next year, probably late in January or early February around there.”

The 26-year-old had made 11 appearances and scored one goal before the setback and his return will provide more options for Riveiro as he rotates his players to manage their workload.
