Mamelodi Sundowns pulled a surprise in the ongoing short January transfer window by signing Monnapule Saleng from Orlando Pirates.
The 27-year-old had fallen out with the Sea Robbers’ management and was sent on loan to Premier Soccer League newbies Orbit College at the start of the season. In the 13 games he played for the Mswanko Boys across all competitions, the South Africa international scored two goals and provided three assists in the process.

Masandawana, who have been struggling for consistency especially in domestic matches, felt the need to have the versatile winger in their squad, and they promptly acted.
While the Brazilians are happy that they got their target, Orbit College have been sent back to the planning table as explained by coach Pogiso Makhoye.
We are still trying to find ourselves
“We are still trying to find ourselves now because we didn’t see it coming. We thought we’ll have him until the end of the season, but you know football, you sleep today as an Orbit player, when you wake up tomorrow, you are somewhere else. But this one we didn’t see it coming,” he told Soccer Laduma.
“I think we won’t take this as a negative impact because you see it means we are doing something right, because if you check even the stats.
“It’s repeated in the number of goals that he scored and also in terms of assists. It means we help him to still stay at the top and stay relevant as well,” Makhoye concluded.
Interestingly, Saleng might be in the Masandawana squad that will play his former team on Monday at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium.
