Orlando Pirates Transfer News: PSL champions not done – Bafana star coming!

Defending Premier Soccer League champions Orlando Pirates are not yet done shaping their team before the transfer window closes on September 22.

Coach Abdeslam Ouaddou strengthened with the signing of Mthetheleli Mthiyane (Stellenbosch FC), Sbangani Zulu (Richards Bay), Bohale Ngwato (Siwelele) Ghampani Lungu (Siwelele), Neo Rapoo (Siwelele), Aphiwe Baliti (Siwelele) & Matome Mmolai (Leicesterford City), Sebastian Pedersen (Sogndal Fotball, Norway) and most recently Mohau Nkota (Al-Ettifaq, Saudi – Loan).

Even after a bright start to the 2026/27 season across all competitions, Ouaddou is still keen on ensuring he has enough depth to challenge for major trophies.

Who are Pirates targeting?

“Pirates could still look to strengthen their squad, with the right-back position potentially one area to keep an eye on as the club prepares for a long and demanding season,” Soccer Laduma reported.

“One name that has previously been linked with a move to Pirates is Thabang Matuludi.

“The 27-year-old has yet to feature for Polokwane City this season, which has inevitably raised questions about his future at the club. Pirates have previously been credited with an interest in the defender, although Rise and Shine coach Willy Maloto has continued to indicate publicly that Matuludi remains part of his plans.

“Matuludi’s situation is therefore one to monitor as the transfer deadline approaches,” they concluded.

Nkosinathi Sibisi, Andre de Jong, Thalente Mbatha, Evidence Makgopa, Sihle Nduli, Masindi Nemtajela, Kabelo Dlamini and Gamphani Lungu are nursing injuries, explaining why more players might join the Sea Robbers.
