Gutted Ouaddou slams Pirates stars despite win over Gallants: ‘I can’t sleep happy! Not here to nurse anybody’

Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou was left furious by his players despite the club’s 3-0 win over Milford FC on Tuesday night.

A strike from Thapelo Mokobodi and a brace by Tshepang Moremi was all the Soweto giants needed to sustain their hopes of successfully defending their Carling Knockout. However, the tactician insists Bucs could have at least scored eight goals at the Orlando Stadium.

He argues that for a team to compete effectively in the CAF Champions League, they have to be ruthless. Furthermore, selfih stars have not been spaired by the tactician.

Pirates should do better!

”It is a game that could have finished with eight goals.… I think for a big club like Pirates, we should do better,” Cardoso opened up in a presser.

”For a club looking to win the Champions League, the Betway, Nedbank Cup, Carling Knockout, it is not enough. We had 24 chances, 24 chances with the amount of three goals.

”Can I be satisfied? No. So, I think we have to wake up and to know that we are playing for a big club. We are not here to nurse people. We are very ambitious.

”Pirates is a giant in Africa, and I think we have to propose something else if we are ambitious, but if we want to stay small, we can continue like that.

”I cannot go home and sleep happy [desite the 3-0 win],’’ he added..

Not here to nurse anybody

”For the players who don’t play too much, when I give them the chance, they have to take it because sometimes the train only stops once at the station, it doesn’t stop twice. When you are playing for such a big club, you need to have this culture of winning every three days and you are not tired,” he added.

”I’m coming to the pitch to win and if I have to kill the [oppornent] with eight, I kill him with eight. I cannot be satisfied to go home with three [goals] when I have 24 chances. We are here to score goals and show everybody that Pirates is the best team and send a big impression.

”You cannot come here to chill and to kick outside and be selfish. When my teammate is in a better position, I give him the ball because if he scores, it is like I score – this is the mentality that I have. When you wear this shirt of Pirates, you need to transform yourself in every game. I’m not here to nurse anybody,” Cardoso further explained.

I don’t have time!

“I don’t have time; I am not hiding what I am telling you now is what I will tell them in the dressing room,” the former Morocco international defender further stated.

“What is important is that the behaviour and values are the foundation of all the projects. Respect the badge.

“You have to deserve to play for a big club,” he concluded.
