Hunt wary of Pirates ahead of PSL date

Stellenbosch FC head coach Gavin Hunt has warned of a possible hammering by Orlando Pirates should they display themselves the way they did against Sekhukhune United.

“I think you have to worry about yourself a little bit. I really don’t think we good enough yet, I don’t think we at that stage yet. I need to get my hands dirty here a little bit,” he added.

“If we play like that against Pirates, they will give us six, they’ve got a lot of quality to going forward. I don’t think we will have chances like that against them so, I think if we get a night like this, I don’t think they will fancy it [raining].

“It was difficult to play here [on Friday], it was very bad at one stage. It’s very difficult to play against that side [Sundowns] because of what they have, we will go there [midweek], we will put up some fight that’s for sure.

“They could have one of those night you’ll never know in football where they hit a crossbar, I just don’t know if we there yet, but we will get there I know that.”

Ouaddou opens up on different tactical changes

Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou spoke on the team’s varied tactical approach after their 3-0 win over AmaZulu at the Orlando Amstel Arena.

“You know, it’s daily, you have to train your team and to, like I said before, we just don’t have only one philosophy of playing and we teach them all the week. In our game model, you need to understand our principles when we are building. Here is the principles they are not the same. In the progression zone, the principles are not the same. In the finishing area, the principles are totally different, but it’s not finished; it’s only the attacking animation,” he said as quoted by Soccer Laduma.

“And after you have the defensive animation, our players must know the principle of preventing the opponent from the build-up, and after to oppose a strong block in the middle to stop the progression of the opponent it means in the mid-block, and they have to understand that there is some principle to defend the low block, Ouaddou observed.

“They are totally different from preventing the build-up. I don’t know if you follow me or not. These principles, you start to work on them since the beginning of the season in the camp. And you emphasise that with, of course, the videos, with the meeting, with the trainings, exercises, game, and of course, you need to train the players to have the fitness for that”.
