Latest news about Orlando Pirates in the last 24 hours, including Bucs being urged to let Relebohile Mofokeng leave, Sipho Chaine refuses Senzo Meyiwa, Moeneeb Josephs comparisons, and many more.
Pirates urged to let Mofokeng leave
Former Orlando Pirates striker Andries Sebola has sent an appeal to Bucs boss Dr. Irvin Khoza to release young forward Relebohile Mofokeng for an overseas move.
Mofokeng was one of the standout performers this season as the Buccaneers won their first League title since the 2011/12 season – a 14 year wait for the coveted title.
It’s high time he leaves. I’m sure Dr Khoza was keeping him to help win the League, but the boy deserves to go,” Sebola told Soccer Laduma.
“We, as soccer lovers, know that he deserves his break. For a midfielder to finish as the club’s top scorer is commendable. My appeal to Dr Khoza is that he must let him go overseas.
“It won’t just be competition against Sundowns next season. I see Chiefs winning something, especially if they recruit well and get an experienced coach.

“What Pirates must also remember is that they benefitted from Sundowns drawing eight (8) games. Had Sundowns won a couple more, it would have been a different story. So, Pirates must do more next season,” he concluded.
Chaine refuses Meyiwa and Josephs’ comparisons
Record-breaking Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Sipho Chaine has refused to be compared with the club’s great past goalkeepers in Senzo Meyiwa and Moeneeb Josephs.
Despite claiming a league and club record of 21 Betway Premiership clean sheets in a single campaign, Chaine has reserved nothing but respect and special praise for the club’s legendary duo between the sticks at the Soweto giants during their playing days.
“It’s a special feeling to be able to represent that. It’s quite remarkable. They always put up a question of where you rank with the past goalkeepers,” he stated.
“Some things are just priceless. You can’t rank yourself with somebody you look up to. You can’t be able to put yourself in a sentence with people that put you to get where you are.
“It’s like your mentor. Someone you look up to, no matter how much you can achieve. You always see yourself as that small little kid from Bloemfontein looking up to Senzo Meyiwa, to Moeneeb Josephs.

“And for you to be able to in those type of shoes, it’s something you can’t really. For me hearing that throughout the season, it’s quite special, really special. I feel honoured to be where I am, and I’m not worthy be where I am today,” Chaine concluded.
