Latest news about Orlando Pirates, including stern warning by PSL opponent, Patrick Maswanganyi, Evidence Makgopa to start against Stellies? And many more.
Pirates get stern warning
Stellenbosch FC head coach Gavin Hunt has reflected on their top eight ambitions ahead of the Betway Premiership blockbuster against Orlando Pirates.
“We were very disappointed that we lost last week [against Polokwane City] because we shouldn’t have lost or have even drawn that game. So, that was disappointing because we could’ve come into this match in a much better situation,” Hunt told Stellies’ media team.
“But, we’re still fighting for the top eight, and we have a chance of achieving that. We have to try. We’ve got four games left, and we’ll probably have to win three of those.
“The weather does affect our approach, because obviously it’s a very different game playing in the rain. The pitch is much heavier and slower, which will hopefully suit us more, because they are one of the best sides in the country in terms of the speed with which they play.
“They create much more chances than other teams in the league, and that’s something we certainly need to be aware of, but it does change a lot in terms of how you approach the game.

“Regardless, though, we have to try to keep the game alive as long as possible and get better as the game wears on, and any result here would be a good outcome for us.”
Maswanganyi, Makgopa to start vs Stellies
Orlando Pirates could be set to unleash the attacking duo of Patrick Maswanganyi and Evidence Makgopa as they prepare for a crucial stretch in their Betway Premiership campaign, the club has hinted.
“The fixture is meanwhile another do-or-die encounter for Pirates, who have drifted five points behind the table topping Mamelodi Sundowns with one game in hand. Victory on Tuesday will narrow that gap considerably and help maintain their place in one of the closest title races in recent years,” Bucs media team communicated.

“With more than one fixture scheduled for the week, there could be a shuffling of the pack with the likes of Patrick Maswanganyi and Evidence Makgopa possibly set for bigger roles after making cameos in recent weeks,” they added.
Pirates to lose Kimvuidi?
A decision on Karim Kimvuidi’s future is looming, with FC Ashdod reportedly keen to sign the Orlando Pirates midfielder permanently after his loan spell in Israel.
The 24-year-old has impressed with four goals and two assists in 18 appearances, but Ashdod’s fight to avoid relegation could influence the final call on activating his buy option.

With a potential three-year deal on the table, the coming weeks will determine whether Kimvuidi stays abroad or returns to Pirates.
