Orlando Pirates fans have started a light-hearted initiative aimed at rewarding Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Brandon Petersen with a cow for his outstanding performance against Mamelodi Sundowns.
Petersen stood tall as Chiefs denied Sundowns all three points, drawing 1-1, and the result leaves Pirates three points behind with a game in hand. Further, the Buccaneers have a superior goal difference.
It means if they win all their three games, they could end their 14-year wait for the PSL title. It is from Petersen’s heroics that social media influencer Chris Excel has started an online fundraiser through BackABuddy with the target of hitting R15,000 to reward Petersen with a cow. By Friday morning, R3,000 had been raised.

Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou feels goalkeeper Sipho Chaine and striker Evidence Makgopa must be among his players who will make the Bafana Bafana squad to the World Cup.
Makgopa has struggled for game time this season but played a part in their 2-0 win over Stellenbosch FC on Tuesday while Chaine has been impressive and become the first goalkeeper to hit 18 clean sheets, overtaking Moeneeb Josephs’ tally of 17 achieved in 2009/10.
“Chaine is an important player for us and I’m happy for him to break the record, we still have some games [remaining], I hope that Hugo Broos, the national team coach, will see his performances,” Ouaddou said as per iDiski Times.
“And I really hope he will be part of the national team in the US, he deserves it, [Evidence] Makgopa as well, he did well [against Stellenbosch], so I’m happy for him.”

Orlando Pirates’ DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) team is on the brink of being crowned champions for the first time in the club’s history this weekend.
Pirates face Mamelodi Sundowns in a top of the table final match of the season at the Dobsonville Stadium on Saturday from 12pm with the two sides separated by three points.
The Buccaneers, who have 72 points, need a draw to be crowned but have a +3 goal difference advantage which means even defeat could see them crowned as long as they do not lose 2-0 or more.
