Former Orlando Pirates winger Tlou Segolela feels Mamelodi Sundowns must be given immense credit for raising the bar too high which made the Buccaneers improve greatly to win the title.
“For a club of the stature of Orlando Pirates, winning the league again after many years is a proud moment for the team, the supporters, and everyone associated with the club,” Segolela told iDiski Times.
“However, considering the history and standards that the club carries in South African football, it is not ideal to go for such a long period without winning the league title.
“At the same time, credit must be given to Mamelodi Sundowns because they have taken the league to another level in terms of consistency, points accumulation and dominance over recent years. Their standards forced every club to improve.”

Former Pirates and Bafana Bafana midfielder Reneilwe Letsholonyane is hoping that Relebohile Mofokeng can have a great tournament at the World Cup so that he can finally take his career to the next big level which he deserves.
“For Rele, expectations are very high. He’s done well for his team and I feel that he still has a lot to do, especially in the national team. He’s sort of not the same player, but even at the level he is, he has been doing well,” he told Soccer Laduma.
“From a selfish point, I hope that he does well. He is one of the players who are very exciting. His attitude is right on the field and he’s worked hard. He has enjoyed his game and I am hoping he does the same, even at that level.”
Riveiro lauded for Orlando Pirates’ PSL crown

Former Orlando Pirates forward Dikgang Mabalane believes ex-coach Jose Riveiro has to be credited for building the foundations that helped the club finally win the PSL title.
Pirates ended their 14-year wait for a PSL crown when they dislodged Mamelodi Sundowns and that came after three straight second place finishes under Riveiro before Abdeslam Ouaddou guided the team to victory.
“But two seasons ago, it was difficult because they were building, bringing in new players who are going to be champion material and then bringing in a championship-inspired coach,” he told iDiski Times.
“The interesting thing is that this victory did not take one coach. People must not forget what Riveiro did before Ouaddou came in to finish it. Give credit to not only the current coach but also the one who came before as well.”
