Ouaddou makes big prediction about Pirates star Mofokeng – ‘The president is someone who…’

Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has waxed lyrical about forward Relebohile Mofokeng following his improved form since his return from injury.

Mofokeng was the match winner as Pirates beat Marumo Gallants to win the Carling Knockout trophy following his extra-time goal at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.

The 21-year-old had a slow start to the season, when his form was questioned, before injuries slowed him down, but he has since returned with a goal and two assists in his last five games.

That has got Ouaddou believing that the Rele of old is about to be seen and believes he will be crucial in their run to more trophies this season.

“The president [Yama2K] is very important for us in our team,” Ouaddou said in reference to Mofokeng.

“I love him, I love his style of play. He’s a very good guy. Top human being, he’s someone who loves football, he dreams about football. I think 24 hours, he feels football.”

Ouaddou then shed light on what contributed to the slow start to the season for Mofokeng while terming him the player who has the potential of leading them to the PSL title.

Ouaddou makes big Mofokeng claim

“I cannot say much about his form in the beginning of the season. He played many games with the national team and didn’t have lot of time to rest. Even the season before he played 40 or 45 games, he’s not robot,” he added.

“I can understand that he was a bit tired, we gave him some rest, and he came back with a very good fitness. The last four games we played, he was part of our success.

“You can see a fit Rele Mofokeng and a Rele that is tired. If he’s 70% fit, he can help the team. I cannot imagine if he’s 100%. If he’s 100%, the president is someone who can make us win the title.”

Mofokeng has so far managed a goal and three assists in 17 games and will head to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in a confident mood following his improved form in the last one month.
