Ouaddou opens up on secret behind Gallants win over Chiefs & explains why he loves the PSL

Marumo Gallants tactician Abdeslam Ouaddou has lauded his players after a hard-fought win over Kaizer Chiefs in the recent Premier Soccer League game staged at the FNB Stadium on Saturday, April 26.

Glody Lilepo struck for the hosts first, but Bahlabane Ba Ntwa responded courtesy of Trevor Mathiane and Daniel Msendami's goals. The win took the club to the 10th position on the table with 30 points from 26 games, the same as the Soweto giants, who have a superior goal difference, but with a game less.

Ouaddou is happy with the effort put up by the playing unit to avoid dropping into the danger zone. It gives them confidence ahead of their final two games against Magesi FC and Chippa United. He argues that playing to save necks in the top-tier has the same pressure as pushing for the title.

‘It was not easy training players'

“When you are fighting to save the club, you say to the players it’s the same pressure when fighting for the title. We are proud of them because, since the beginning, it was not easy at training as we are hard on them sometimes. They work a lot, and on Saturday, they achieved things,” he told the media.

“If you see all teams that are fighting for relegation, you can see that they are developing strengths. The way they do things is like they need to save their lives, especially Magesi, and I like to watch them.”

He then explained why he loves Mzansi, “I will stay in the PSL; the PSL is one of the best leagues in Africa. I’m very happy to work in South Africa because football is structured here. I think we have people who have a game model, who want to achieve something.

“You can see that many clubs [Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates, and Stellenbosch] went far in African competitions, so I enjoy working here, and I think it’s nice to be in South Africa,” Ouaddou concluded.
