Kaizer Chiefs are off to a perfect start in the Betway Premiership, securing a 1-0 win over Polokwane City at FNB Stadium on Wednesday evening.

The victory marks their second consecutive win of the season, putting them in an elite group of teams with a flawless record, including Marumo Gallants, Sekhukhune United, and Durban City.

Having already defeated Stellenbosch 2-0, Amakhosi were aiming to go top of the table and build on their early momentum. They faced a resilient Polokwane City side that defended with a disciplined low-block, stifling Chiefs' attacks for much of the game.

CHIEFS POSSESSION DOMINANCE

Despite Chiefs controlling possession with a dominant 69%, they failed to create many clear-cut chances. In fact, it was Polokwane City who looked more dangerous, registering more shots on target in the first half. This prompted a tactical change at halftime, with Nkosingiphile Ngcobo replacing Mduduzi Shabalala to add more creativity to the midfield.

The stalemate was finally broken in the 80th minute when new signing Siphisihle Ndlovu scored his maiden goal for the club. The goal was enough to give Chiefs a crucial victory and all three points.

This important win sets a positive tone for the upcoming fortnight, which sees them face Richards Bay and Mamelodi Sundowns at home. The perfect start is a testament to the team's determination and ability to grind out a result even when not at their best.

The fans, who turned out in droves despite the cold, will be delighted with the result and the team's early form. The club will be hoping to continue this momentum and establish themselves as genuine title contenders.
