Petersen on what can beat his appetite for clean sheets with Kaizer Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs are set to play Orbit College on Wednesday in the Premier Soccer League outing that will be staged at the FNB Stadium.

The Glamour Boys secured a hard-fought 1-0 win in their last game against Durban City at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban last Friday. The result took them to 19 points, but they are still fourth on the table.

Ahead of the Wednesday game, Orbit College collected a 3-1 win over Magesi and will be hoping to get another positive outcome against Amakhosi. Chiefs keeper Brandon Petersen has played a big role in helping his team keep nine clean sheets in 13 games played across all competitions.

However, that is not his main concern ahead of the fixture against The Mswenko Boys. He is focused on another vital win in the league and believes that can be made easier with fans turning out in large numbers to support the players and cheer them to victory.

Petersen NOT FOCUSED on clean sheets

“It’s a very good feeling for me [to keep clean sheets]; it is important to have clean sheets, but I think what’s more important is a good overall team performance and maximum points,” the 31-year-old custodian told the media.

“I am not really focused on how many clean sheets I am keeping. What’s more important is to make sure that we have a good team performance week in [and] week out. I’d take a good victory over a clean sheet any day.

“It will be another tough encounter for us against Orbit. We know that everyone who comes up against us wants to beat us, and it’s important to keep this good run going, especially before the international break. It’s also a home game for us, so first it’s important not to concede, and bagging three points is non-negotiable.

“I am encouraging our fans to come and fill up FNB Stadium on Wednesday, come see us collect maximum points,” Petersen concluded.
