Orlando Pirates have been tipped to go all the way and win the Caf Champions League this season.
The Soweto giants have been paired with MC Alger in the quarter-final, with either AS FAR Rabat or Pyramids waiting in the semi-final. Former Bafana Bafana goalkeeper's coach Roger De Sa sees no team that can stop the Buccaneers.
He believes the draw gave the Sea Robbers the upper hand to win their second star after the 1995 triumph.
‘Pirates avoided tougher opponents'

“Pirates have a chance. I don't think Algerian football is at its best at the moment, I believe this is a favourable draw for Pirates. It’s a realistic situation, especially since they are playing away first. They can approach the match cautiously, play their game, and return with a result that they can defend at home,” the former Egypt assistant coach said as quoted by SNL24.
“I think this is a very advantageous draw for Pirates. They’ve avoided the tougher opponents, and now they have a realistic opportunity. It’s up to Pirates to seize it.
“Yes, in the domestic league, Pirates have been somewhat inconsistent, and let's be honest, Sundowns are the favourites for the local league. However, Pirates have a strong chance in the Champions League.”
Why it was beneficial for Sundowns and Pirates to avoid each other

De Sa has further explained why it was important for Mamelodi Sundowns and Pirates to avoid each other in the last eight with the only potential meeting being in the final.
“It’s always better to face foreign opposition,” stated regarding the pairing that saw Masandawana get Esperance.
“Honestly, apart from Al Ahly and the Moroccan teams, I believe as a country we have become stronger than most northern African teams at the moment.”
