PSL fixtures: Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs get light season-openers

Defending champions Orlando Pirates are set to kick off their Betway Premiership title defence at home against newly-promoted Milford FC, while rivals Kaizer Chiefs will travel to face Kruger United.

The Buccaneers will welcome the KwaZulu-Natal newcomers to Orlando Stadium on Saturday, August 1, in what promises to be a challenging debut for Milford and their owner-coach, Xanti Pupuma.

Later that evening, Kaizer Chiefs will begin their campaign under new coach Fernando da Cruz with a clash against Kruger United at the Mbombela Stadium.

Sundowns get to start against PSL rivals

Mamelodi Sundowns, eager to reclaim the league title, will start their season at Loftus Versfeld Stadium against Marumo Gallants, also on August 1.

The opening day’s action also includes Lamontville Golden Arrows hosting Chippa United at the King Zwelithini Stadium, and AmaZulu making the trip to the Danie Craven Stadium to take on Gavin Hunt’s Stellenbosch FC.

How Pirates and Chiefs will start season

In another intriguing matchup, two former Chiefs coaches will go head-to-head as Cedric Kaze’s Sekhukhune United face Khilal Ben Youssef’s Durban City at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium.

The opening weekend will conclude with two matches on Sunday, August 2. Richards Bay will host Polokwane City at the uMhlathuze Sports Complex, and Siwelele FC will play TS Galaxy at the Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium.

The MTN8 quarter-finals are scheduled to take place the following weekend, on August 8-9.
