Orlando Pirates Transfers: Buccaneers close to signing highly-rated PSL midfielder

Orlando Pirates are reportedly looking to strengthen their midfield by signing Bheki Mabuza from Marumo Gallants in what could be a surprise move for the Soweto giants.

Sources indicate that the Buccaneers have identified Mabuza as a target, despite the player not being previously linked with the club in recent transfer speculation.

An insider, speaking to Soccer Laduma, confirmed the interest, stating, “Pirates have been after him for the past few weeks.”

Pirates target earns high praise

The source praised the midfielder’s abilities and versatility. “That boy is a baller. That’s why he played so many games last season. He plays around the midfield, like he can play as an 8 or 10, and even as a 6.”

Mabuza was a key figure for Bahlabane Ba Ntwa last season, making 27 league appearances and an additional five in cup competitions, bringing his total to 32 matches. He has continued to feature this season, already playing in three league games.

Mabuza medical imminent

It is understood that Mabuza could undergo a medical examination this week, which would be a significant step toward finalising the transfer.

Pirates are seeking further additions to the squad before the transfer window shuts on September 22 and have been linked with other players such as Polokwane City right-back Thabang Matuludi.

The Buccaneers are looking for midfielders in the wake of Patrick Maswanganyi and Relebohile Mofokeng’s departure which left them light, especially in the number 10 role.
