Controversial Bafana Bafana midfielder Sipho Mbule is among the nine players who have been signed by Orlando Pirates ahead of the 2025/26 Premier Soccer League campaign.
The 27-year-old came as a free agent after his contract with Mamelodi Sundowns expired at the end of the 2024/25 season. In that edition, he was loaned to Sekhukhune United, but it did not end up well after a disciplinary breach.
While at Masandawana, Mbule has been accused, alongside Andile Jali, of reporting for training under the influence. It explains why there have been questions on whether Bucs will tame the midfielder and help him realise his potential.
The Sea Robbers legend Teboho Moloi has lauded the Soweto giants for giving Mbule a chance, insisting he can come through like Jabu Mahlangu.
‘Mbule found a home where he belongs'

“Look at Jabu, he came to Pirates when no one would touch him really,” Moloi opened up to iDiski Times in his recent interview.
“And what happened, the chairman even helped him find himself and his Mahlangu ancestors. Sipho is in good hands. There’s nothing new with Pirates signing a player deemed as troublesome. We were problems ourselves. But the chairman has always proven to be a father before he puts on his chairman hat.
“Starting with the likes of myself and then Jabu [Pule], Cheese [Lebohang Mokoena] and Gift [Leremi], the chairman handled us, and we all produced our best. I am not even concerned about the off-the-field antics that Sipho Mbule is said to have.
“He has joined a club where he will be reined in, and I am truly excited that he found a home where he belongs,” Moloi concluded.
