Pirates defender Mbokazi gets transfer advice from Wolves midfielder

Orlando Pirates defender Mbekezeli Mbokazi has been receiving plenty of praise due to his impressive performances for club and country and is among those tipped to shine abroad.

Mbokazi, still just 20, has been playing as a seasoned player and is already captaining Pirates while he has become undroppable for coach Abdeslam Ouaddou as well as Bafana Bafana boss Hugo Broos.

Broos has already told the youngster to ensure he does not waste his immense talents by moving abroad as soon as next year as he feels he has the quality and personality to succeed in Europe.

Those sentiments are shared by former Pirates midfielder Marshall Munetsi, who now plies his trade in the English Premier League with Wolves.

Munetsi shares honest opinion on TLB

Munetsi thinks it is better when players make the step up at a very young age like Mbokazi and all he needs is to have the right people around him to help him select the best possible destination.

“You can see coach Hugo Broos was talking about TLB [Mbokazi] that he needs to be making the move out of South Africa,” Munetsi said on Sports Night Amplified with Andile.

“I think that would probably be the right time for him to leave especially when he is at a young age and the people that manage those players have to do a right job in pushing them into bigger leagues and that also benefits South African football in that aspect,” added the former Stade de Reims midfielder.

Will Pirates keep hold of Mbokazi next year?

Mbokazi has maintained high standards at the heart of defence for both Pirates and Bafana Bafana while he remains humble, not allowing the fame and talk get into his head.

Pirates are hoping that he remains fit to fire them to success while Broos has already said he is one of his go-to men and will play a key role at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and 2026 World Cup.

The Buccaneers will likely struggle to keep hold of him next summer when he will be linked with a number of clubs overseas.
