Orlando Pirates teenager Mohau Nkata stole the show on Friday night as his brace handed the Soweto Giants a deserved 2-1 win over AmaZulu.
The goals at Orlando Stadium were the 19-year-old's first in the Premier Soccer League, with Relebohile Mofokeng provided both assists.
After scoring a screamer in the 30th minute, the teenager ran all the way to coach Jose Riveiro and gave him an emotional hug for trusting him with a starting berth ahead of the experienced Angola international Gilberto.
He could have easily grabbed a hattrick but he saw his effort come off the woodwork with goalkeeper Richard Ofori well beaten.
Forget Riveiro, Nkata thanks Duku Duku for his advice
Pirates legend Joseph ‘Duku Duku' Makhanya was in the stadium watching the youngster getting important goals for the Sea Robbers.
“I’d like to say thank you to coach Duku Duku for the advice that he has given me and thank you for everything that he’s done for me,” Nkota stated after the match.
“Also to Mxoliso, who is the manager of the DDC [team], thank you for everything he has done for us. I thank coach Jose Riveiro for giving me this opportunity. Thanks for everything he has done to help.
“It’s been an opportunity for me, it’s been a long time for me, so I have to process and unpack everything. Thank you to all of them.”
The Buccaneers have now collected 15 points from the first five Premier Soccer League matches played in the new season. On Tuesday, they will be playing TS Galaxy.
