Pirates legend Vilakazi identifies key aspect Dlamini needs to improve

Former Orlando Pirates star Benedict “Tso” Vilakazi has given advice to Kabelo Dlamini over how he can improve his game.

Dlamini has been among key players for Pirates this season and has also shown that he can pull off spectacular goals and passes.

One of his great passes was witnessed on Wednesday when he laid a great ball to Patrick Maswanganyi to score in their 2-1 victory over Golden Arrows and Vilakazi feels the midfielder has more of that in his locker but is lacking the confidence to execute it.

Dlamini challenged to show consistency

“I just hope he can hear this and understand where I’m coming from and where I’m going. I don’t want to see this [the great pass] after 10 games. I know he can do it,” Vilakazi told iDiski Times.

“There’s a difference with a player that will do this maybe once in a season or once in six months. No, this one can do it, he just needs to have confidence and continuity because I think that is something that he’s good at.

“He just needs to realise that I’m good at passing and also have that eye to see the space in between where to put a pass with a perfect pace. He knows how to put it.”

Tso as he is commonly known thinks Dlamini might be hesitating to bring out his other qualities because of fear that it might not come off well yet that is exactly what he needs to grow in confidence.

“My thing is just to say boy don’t wait and be scared to try because it may be intercepted, keep on doing it. The more you do it the more natural it becomes for you,” he added.

“Boy you can do it, you missed one in the first half they intercepted it, and it was a corner-kick. And for me getting to that box and take a short that’s also good.”

Vilakazi will hope to see more of that from Dlamini in the Nedbank Cup final on Saturday when Pirates take on Kaizer Chiefs at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
