Orlando Pirates Transfers: Buccaneers poised to sign two PSL standouts

Published on by

Orlando Pirates are reportedly on the verge of securing the signatures of Stellenbosch FC midfielder Mthetheleli Mthiyane and Richards Bay FC defender Sibangani Zulu.

The Buccaneers are actively strengthening their squad for the upcoming 2026/27 season as they aim to build on their domestic success and make a significant impact on the continental stage.

Last season, the Soweto giants achieved a remarkable domestic treble, winning the MTN8, the Carling Knockout Cup, and the Betway Premiership. Their league title triumph ended a long and arduous 14-year wait.

Having qualified for the CAF Champions League, Pirates are determined to mount a serious challenge, motivated by the recent success of their rivals, Mamelodi Sundowns, who lifted the continental trophy last week.

According to iDiski Times, both Mthiyane and Zulu completed their medical examinations last week and are now in the final stages of finalising their moves to the Sea Robbers.

The pair delivered impressive performances for their respective clubs last season, establishing themselves as indispensable players.

Mthiyane joined the Cape Winelands outfit just last season from Motsepe Foundation Championship side Milford FC. He quickly became a mainstay in the Stellenbosch midfield, making 38 appearances across all competitions and scoring one goal in his debut top-flight campaign.

Zulu, a talented centre-back, moved to the Richards Bay side in April of last year after Royal AM’s expulsion from the PSL. He went on to make 27 appearances for the club, contributing one assist from defence.
