Orlando Pirates teenager Mohau Nkota has been doing well for the Soweto Giants in the most recent engagements.
The 19-year-old was introduced in the 3-2 loss against Magesi in the Carling Knockout's Round of 16. He replaced Monnapule Saleng in the second half with the Buccaneers trailing 3-0 after a poor first half.
The youngster then started the Premier Soccer League game against SuperSport United which the Sea Robbers won 2-0. However, the biggest impact was made on Friday when Nkota scored a brace to help his team claim a 2-1 win over AmaZulu and go top of the table.
Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye has lauded the attacker for what he has achieved as well as the quality he possesses.
Nkota reminds me of Raphinha
“He reminds me of the Brazilian Raphinha; This boy has a bright future ahead of him. Like we spoke about him from the glimpses he showed on Tuesday,” he told iDiski Times.
“The importance of playing with two wingers in South Africa and especially at Pirates and [Kaizer] Chiefs, because Pirates and Chiefs they are not playing like [Mamelodi] Sundowns. Having two dangerous wingers cutting in, always taking somebody on and playing one, twos.
“They are so technically good with good decision-making. These two Relebohile Mofokeng and this boy created so many chances.
Mofokeng and Nkota, the next deadly combo?
Relebohile Mofokeng created the two goals against AmaZulu. The duo was in devastating form and could have easily scored five goals between them.
“Pirates didn’t dominate the game in the middle because of the absence of Thalente Mbatha and Makhehleni [Makhaula] and we can’t say they were solid at the back because AmaZulu didn’t test them,” Khanye continued.
“[Thabiso] Sesane plays the ball diagonally to Relebohile and Relebohile plays diagonally to Nkota with a good first touch. He [Nkota] is a very skillful player, he cuts in, he sees the goals open, and the goalkeeper was the only difference.
“They also have a deadly combination because when Nkota plays with Relebohile they come close to and create a diamond shape with [Evidence] Makgopa,” he concluded.
The two youngsters might be involved again on Tuesday when Pirates take on TS Galaxy in the Premier Soccer League outing at the Mbombela Stadium.
