Orlando Pirates forward Relebohile Mofokeng has opened up about the qualities he brings to Bafana Bafana ahead of their match against Cameroon.

South Africa take on Cameroon in the Round of 16 of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Rabat on Sunday night and there have been calls for Mofokeng to start.

Mofokeng has so far played just 21 minutes, when he was thrown on in the second half against Egypt, as South Africa were trailing 1-0 against 10 men.

While he did not manage to open up the stubborn Egyptian defence, he showed flashes of brilliance that has led fans to urge coach Hugo Broos to start him against Cameroon, and the 21-year-old believes he has the quality to kill off the Indomitable Lions.

“I think it forces me to become an impact player,” he stated on Saturday. “I have always been an impact player from my club, so I don’t think it can be that difficult for me to get used to being an impact player even here.”

The Pirates winger went into details over what he brings to the table which should lift Bafana Bafana against Cameroon if he gets the chance.

“I think I know how to read the game, I know how to change the game I must just get used to doing changing the game here,” he added.

“No, I don’t necessarily feel pressure [coming off the bench] but obviously when you are a player who wants his team to win, who wants to change the game there will always be pressure.

“But I don’t think I feel it because I come on when the team is already under pressure. So I think I should just help the team so they can get what they want.”
